SVI Variables by Theme

The CDC's Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) organizes vulnerability factors into four themes:

Theme 1: Socioeconomic Status - Income, poverty, employment, and education variables

Theme 2: Household Composition & Disability - Age, single parenting, and disability variables

Theme 3: Minority Status & Language - Race, ethnicity, and English language proficiency

Theme 4: Housing Type & Transportation - Housing structure, crowding, and vehicle access
